Like its predecessors, Conference on Business Sustainability (FCBS) 2012, Marketing Conference (FIMC) 2013, Finance Conference (FIFC) 2014, and the Operational Management Conference (FIOC) 2015, FIOHC 2016 commemorates the foundation day of the Institute and is aimed at taking forward the mission of its parent body Foundation of Organizational Research and Education (FORE) of promoting groundbreaking research in organizational studies. rnThe FORE INTERNATIONAL OB & HR CONFERENCE 2016 is the forum to be at this November, for academicians, practitioners, research scholars, and students in people management and allied disciplines. Join us to participate in the technical sessions, business case and management research competitions, invited lectures from great minds across the globe, workshops, panel discussions, and ample opportunities for networking, building and renewing professional ties, and enriching and disseminating one’s knowledge in the capital of the nation. rnrnTHEMErnrnRiding the New Tides: Navigating the Future Through Effective People Managementrnrn Human resource management has travelled a long way – from scientific management to individualized HRM. Far from being a legal or policy compulsion, people management has emerged as a key contributor to the firm’s bottom-line: by attracting and retaining talent, helping individuals outperform themselves, contributing to customer satisfaction, and advancing the strategies of the organization. rn With HRM taking a central role in firms, the environment is undergoing dramatic changes. The world has now been captured in the span of a smart phone. Collective voice is on the decline, but there is increased governmental and media vigilance and bargaining power of the knowledge workers. The customers are more diversified, aware, and value-conscious than ever before. For the internal customers, the employees, the workplace is boundaryless, age is just a number, and career is less a ladder and more a jungle gym. rn Organizational scientists are also facing the criticism of organizational behavior theories being out of touch with the current needs of the workplace, contributing to the perennial debate of whether research inspires industrial practices or merely mirrors it. As the industry and the environment it operates in changes dramatically, the scholars of today need to document and intellectualize the new trends, predict the future opportunities and challenges, and suggest need-based interventions that can equip the modern HR to ace the uncertain world. rn Tides are unpredictable, dangerous, and seemingly insurmountable. Yet, to an able navigator, tides are welcome challenges, indications of dynamism and avenues to new shores. The FORE INTERNATIONAL OB & HR CONFERENCE 2016 seeks conversations that capture the spirit, challenges, and opportunities of the world of today for the human resource professional, and forward actionable suggestions based of sound scientific methods.
